When Fox Meadow really was a meadow.

When Fox Meadow really was a meadow. This aerial shot captures right before Scarsdale had a big building boom in the late 1920s. With all of the open land in the center of the photo, you can see the outline of Emily Butler’s Fox Meadow estate right before it was developed. The Greenacres neighborhood was quite established (on the left). We estimate the date is 1923-1924 - based on the existence of the Bronx River Parkway and the non-existence of Cohawney Road (which was developed in 1925). Note that Fox Meadow School wasn’t even there yet (broke ground in 1928). Also, this makes Long Island Sound seem so close (at the top)!
