This monograph explores the history of Garth Road real estate development from the time the area was farmland to the construction of Garth Road’s last apartment building. There’s a brief history of each building, including a more detailed history of Thornycroft Apartments and its architect, George F. Pelham, Sr.

Robert Mawson is a retired architectural historian. His career included a decade at the National Trust for Historic Preservation as well as three decades at Heritage Consulting Group. As part of Heritage, he has successfully nominated over 350 buildings to the National Register of Historic Places and aided the owners of historic and older buildings to secure over $100 million in federal historic tax credits.
